What's NEW at the Playground

It feels like it's been a long wait, but things are finally starting to trickle in from all the new CHA releases....come on down and check them out!!

Miss Caroline is here!

Yep, it's finally in the store and on display! And it's WONDERFUL! I could blab on and on about this collection all day long...but be grateful I am going to spare you today. *grins*
I will tell you it covers just about everything....soft subtle colors, bright bold colors, stripes, polka dots, plaids. Flowers, lace and wood...combined on ONE sheet of paper! Fabulous! You can embellish until your heart is content with stickers, rub-ons, bling, stick pins, stamps, twine, title and journal cards.....MME has it covered!!

This is a huge line with so many pieces parts, that you just have to come down and see it for yourself....here's just a sampling of the goodness.

Authentique "Genuine"

This paper is really unique. Authentique is always such a sturdy cardstock, and has such a great texture. The texture and the print on this line of paper go perfectly together...it has the feel and look of denim. Great papers for masculine projects, but patterns soft and subtle enough for creating feminine layouts and cards.
Take a look:

Dainty enough for a little girl,
 perfect for a baby boy.
The butterflies on the back are cool (I'm a butterfly lover) .
Check out these white stars on a washed out denim
background....add a pop of red and you will have
some Independence Day fun!!

The back side of this paper has a
wonderful floral and
 butterfly  motif
over the print. Very elegant.

Chevrons!

The back of this paper looks just like
the leg of a pair of jeans.
The texture of the paper makes it feel almost real.
Screams "TEEN" to me...boys or girls.

Little Yellow Bicycle  "Saturdays"

Another fun line...blues and browns that work so great together. Some fun embellishments, too!

Just In....Die-Namics from My Favorite Things

Here are a few of the new dies in the store...

Don't forget to follow us on Facebook!! The link is just over there ----> on the right. :o)

Enjoy the Day!!!

My Mind's Eye Kraft Funday "Happy Days" is such a fun line of paper! Take a look at the playful pages we will be making in Tuesday's class.

These pages are soooo  much cooler in person. I wish each and every one of you could see them up close and see the fun oozing from them!
Here are the details if you want to join us for class:

WHAT'S NEW
Hero Art's Stamp and Framelit sets
I love the way the dies cut the image so perfectly. They have been really fun to play with. If fussy-cutting isn't your thing, these are great! There are several sets to choose from.

Impression Obsession Cover a Card stamps
I am so excited about these stamps! They are huge (5.75" x 5.75") and they can cover an entire card front...even at a diagonal!

When you are searching for that perfect background for your card...you can use these stamps to customize it  just the way you want.
Want a subtle background....tone on tone..
Aqua card stock stamped with Broken China Distress Ink
Or maybe a little more dramatic...
Aqua card stock stamped with black ink
Need some color....

White card stock stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, Colored with  Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, and Broken China Distress inks. (really bad photo...sorry)
Or not.....

Maybe you want to get wild and emboss it....

Black card stock embossed with silver pearl embossing powder
These stamps are so versatile, and I am totally in love with them!  I think they would be great for scrapbooking, too. Since they measure just under 6 inches, you would be able to use 4 of these on a scrapbook page with just a little border around them for a great patterned color blocking effect. Or just 2 of them in opposite corners and have solid card stock showing on the rest of the page.
I love the versatility of these stamps....over the moon excited!

If you are worried about how to stamp with such a big honkin' stamp, they have a huge stamping block that is curved with a handle to help you get the best impression possible. Super Smart. I always have trouble getting the middle of a large image to stamp, but with the curved block, you always get a great impression. I'm excited about this block, too...I have a lot of big stamps I haven't used in a long time because I couldn't get a decent impression from them...Fuuuun!!! I plan on pulling some of those out and playing with them again.

Here are a couple cards I have made using the cover a card stamps and rocker block.

I used the Hero Arts Stamps and Framelits on this one.
(Look at those perfect cuts!)

Goosebumps
Okay, one last thing I'm excited about. Goosebumps are a texture spray from Tsukeniko. I love texture, it always intrigues me. This spray adds some really fun texture to whatever you are working on. You can use it on paper, glass, acrylic, canvas and probably a lot more. Spray it on, let it dry (or hit it with the heat gun if you don't want to wait) then add some color with inks or sprays or whatever you want to use to add some interest and dimension. You end up with a great pebbly texture...so fun!!

I've got the regular (glossy) and matte Goosebumps in stock right now...grab some quick before they are gone. Last week they were gone the same day they came in, and I didn't even get to post about them!

That's it this time 'round. I have lots of stuff ordered, just waiting for it to arrive...I will let you know as soon as it gets here, so keep watching!

Inky Mess Class

We are going to get a little messy with this next class! It's sure to be a good time.

Combine a lot of liquid color (i.e. Glimmer Mist, Distress Stain, dye re-inkers) and a little plastic wrap and you will be amazed at what you can create. This is one of my all-time favorite things to do. It's one of those "watch it emerge" type things that have always intrigued me, and no two are ever the same. (it's like a box of chocolates...you just never know what you're gonna get....and if it's like chocolate, it's gotta be a good thing, right??)
We will be making lots of background papers and creating a couple of cards and a flower from them, and I will share more ideas on how to use these fun little creative gems.

Here are the details:
Date: Saturday, February 11th
Time: 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Cost: $10.00
Bring: Paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive and pop dots

**you will probably want to wear some clothing that you won’t mind getting an ink stain or two on. I will have some rubber gloves for you so you won’t have to walk around the rest of the weekend with inky fingers.**

Upcoming classes...with photos!

Here are some photos of what's going to be happening at the Playground this coming week. Take a look!

Paper Bag Mini Album Class

This is a great project using brown paper lunch bags as your base for a mini album. You really don't see much of the bag at all. The bag creates a couple of great little pockets for goodies on each page. You could go WILD embellishing these! The album itself is quick and easy to put together, and you get to decide how much or how little you embellish them. You can make one for your own brag book, a brag book for someone else, birthday book for someone special, a baby book, a recipe book, make a picture book for your little ones....the ideas are endless, really...it only stops where your imagination does. Why not join us for some creative fun and laughter...we'd love to have you!!

Date: Saturday, Feb.  4th
Time: 10 a.m. & 1 p.m.
Cost: $10
Bring: Paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive and pop dots. (bring extra adhesive...this project uses A LOT)

Call 721-7529 or email scrapandplay@rushmore.com to reserve a seat!

Bo Bunny ET CETERA Layout Class

This was one of my favorite paper lines last year.
I love the muted colors with their water color look, the  printing and music patterns, the coffee stains, the soft grungy feel. I just love, love, love it!
Talented Miss Chelsea did another fantabulous job of putting together layouts with this line! She knocked out 8! layouts for us to do in class. They are "squeelingly" amazing. (I know, it's not a word...but these layouts made me squeal ) Wait until you see the "peek a boo" spots that Chelsea added to these layouts, they are so fun and perfect for these pages. Just take a look at all this beautiful goodness!

Date: Tuesday, Feb. 7th
Time: 6-10 p.m.
Cost: $25
Bring: Paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive and pop dots.
